A charming vintage Gabbeh whose simplified drawing and tactile wool surface embody the expressive character of southwest Persian pastoral weaving. Traditionally produced for domestic use rather than urban patrons, Gabbehs allowed their makers unusual artistic freedom. Weavers often incorporated personal interpretations of animals, plants, human figures and landscapes, creating compositions that feel both ancient and unexpectedly modern. The larger format of this example gives its design greater visual presence while preserving the immediacy, irregularity and warmth for which authentic Gabbeh weaving is prized.
