A handsome antique Kazak characterized by powerful geometric ornament and the confident use of contrasting color. Kazak rugs were woven in village communities across the South Caucasus. Their bold medallions, angular borders and deliberately simplified motifs give them a visual authority that appeals to collectors of tribal textiles as well as admirers of modern abstraction. Its balanced proportions and strong graphic presence make this example equally effective as both a floor covering and a wall-mounted textile.
