This brilliant burnt orange color vintage Moroccan rug has a story to tell of a life lived not so many decades ago. This gorgeous lush Moroccan shag rug is splashed with a selection of primitive, almost cave like drawing symbols. It is an excellent example of a mid 20th century Moroccan Berber carpet and represents a unique one of a kind piece of artwork that tells the story from the one of the Beni Ourain tribes and its people.
The design, of this beautiful area carpet from Morocco, may appear simple at first, but as one discovers the meaning behind the symbols, it has a unique story to reveal. We can embark on a journey of discovery and imagine how each rug weaver used the piece to commemorate a certain life event in their own personal history. It is much like an autobiography, but many of the meanings of the symbols may have been lost in time.
This fascinating design uses only two basic colors. The darker charcoal color juxtaposes so magnificently against the abrash burnt orange tones of the background. The central field area is encased within a thin dark line up the sides of the vintage shag pile burnt orange Moroccan Berber rug. The ends are defined by self colored selvages that do not break the visual line that is created by the solid ground.
The simplicity of the design makes this mid century modern rug versatile and adaptable to a number of different interior decorating schemes. It would go well with anything that focuses on primitive, or organic designs. It would also go well with recent modern or contemporary interior design trends such as Scandinavian, or minimalist.
