An elegant French Aubusson tapestry woven in silk and wool, materials that combine a softly reflective surface with rich color and texture. Aubusson developed into one of France’s most important tapestry centers, producing pictorial and decorative textiles for aristocratic and sophisticated domestic interiors. The Metropolitan Museum of Art preserves numerous works associated with the Aubusson manufactory, reflecting its established position in French decorative-art history. Aubusson works at The Met.
