Kars is a city in Turkey that has a long history of rug making. It has also been occupied by many different groups throughout the ages. Each of these groups left its mark on the traditional designs of artwork in the area. Many of the rugs were produced by Kurdish tribes, and have developed into a unique style due to exposure to many of the groups that have inhabited and traveled through the area.
