Provenance: Property of a New York estate

A generously sized Chinese Art Deco carpet reflecting the creative transformation of Chinese carpet design during the 1920s and 1930s. Workshops producing for an international clientele replaced dense traditional layouts with open fields, asymmetrical floral arrangements and confident modern colors. The result was a distinctive synthesis of Chinese ornament and Western Art Deco taste. Its practical room-size format makes it suitable for a living room, bedroom, library or sophisticated contemporary interior.
