This finely woven antique Mohtasham Kashan carpet from circa 1900 presents a smoldering composition of rich crimson and inky black hues offset by dusky blues and buttermilk yellows, its layered borders drawing the eye inward to a bright and vivacious central mandala that unifies the fiery palette with commanding elegance. Swirling stems and curling flower motifs animate the field throughout, while the exceptional quality of the Mohtasham attribution — considered the pinnacle of antique Kashan production — speaks for itself.
