Description

Woven with a traditional combination of red, ivory and Persian blue set over an oxidized reddish-brown background, this Antique Turkish Milas rug reflects the prevalent influence of semi-nomadic tribes and Turkmen traditions in the classic composition with wide borders and a narrow, compartmentalized field. In addition to a central endless knot pattern, the outer compartments are decorated with segmented roundels reminiscent of duality symbols used in Anatolia through the Far East. Colorful elibelinde motifs that resemble flowers dot the ivory guardbands on this beautiful Antique Turkish rug that alternate between zigzagging running water borders set over an exquisite blue ground and outer borders decorated with an intriguing segmented rosette pattern.

Overall good condition. Good pile throughout. Minute re-piling scattered. Sides original. Both ends partial but stabilized. Rug is clean and floor ready. A graphic design in plush wool with subtle coloration. Please contact our rug experts at auction@nazmiyal.com or call us for any questions you may have at 212.545.8029.
