Tribal patterning fills the body of this antique Caucasian rug, created with rich blue and tan accented with earthy brown and pale yellow. The night-dark blue forms diamonds with geodesic borders that dip in at regular intervals. Sharply angular lines depict four-lobed ornaments within the space of the larger medallions. Over the tan background of this Soumak rug, between and sprouting from each large, blue figure, a garden fills the space. Executed artfully with right angles, new shoots seem to be springing up through the lower half, filtering midway to fully grown tulips in myriad colors. More of the squared sprouts and smaller geometric figures of people are tucked into the corners. A set of several borders with angular shapes surrounds the central field of this tribal flat woven antique rug.
