As a fragment, this piece should be described for its surviving detail rather than as a complete room-size carpet. The preserved section shows rows of boteh-like forms across a warm ivory-tan field, with a deep blue floral border giving the fragment visual weight. Rust, navy, tan, and ivory details create a formal textile rhythm. The Mohtashem Kashan attribution carries importance, so the description should sound respectful but not overclaim beyond what the image can prove.

Lot # 448 is in fair to good condition. It is a fragment of a bigger size carpet. The pile is full and even with a small area of 1 inch by 1 inch that needs to be re-piled. There is an area of 1/2" x 12" that has been re-woven near one end. The two end and sides are secured. This piece is clean.
