Description
This superb mid-century Moroccan rug features a remarkable earthy, hard-wearing sisal foundation adorned with an exquisite assortment of protective devices. The chic camel-colored field is divided into beautifully balanced compartments that showcase a fascinating variety of ancient cultural symbols, including endless knots, hourglass figures and cryptic duality motifs. Broad open spaces highlight each isolated symbol and emphasize the cultural importance of each figure included within the endless repeating pattern. Even the zigzagging borders and interlocking lozenge dividers are culturally significant and have a decorative style that balances macro and micro wonderfully. Lively saffron accents, saturated carmine symbols and the earthy sisal background give this vintage rug a timeless style that is steeped in culture.
