Iconic Vintage Mid Century Modern Verner Panton Kurve Textile Art Piece, Country Of Origin: Denmark, Circa Date: Mid 20th Century — This wave design in shades of brown is a variation on one of Verner Panton’s most iconic designs called “Kurve.” Designing in the 1960’s and 1970’s, Panton created many designs that, like this piece, depict organic forms using a minimalist and geometric aesthetic. The singular wave shape on this textile is made from an opened circular form that it is easy to imagine being repeated to create a longer wave. Soft-edged lines divide the wave into curving stripes in shades ranging from pale linen to rich chocolate. This textile’s dynamic and playful shape evokes the optimistic space age feel conjured by so much of Panton’s mid-century modern design, but here Panton uses a timeless earthy color palette that keeps this textile feeling warm and domestic.
