Antique West Turkestanian Yamout Horse Cover, West Turkestan, Turn of the Twentieth Century – Here is a unique and fascinating antique Oriental rug – not precisely a rug, in fact, but an antique horse cover. Widely considered to be highly collectible, antique horse covers such as this comely example are rare examples that are eagerly sought after by collectors. Riddled with cultural significance, antique horse covers such as this charming example ar beautiful cultural artifacts, with rich stories to tell. This particular example is woven in the Yomutstyle. Admired for its tribal authenticity, the Yomut style is often characterized by a color pallet of dark hues of red, purples and browns, as well as a proclivity to render geometric figures in a specific, rectilinear manner. This particular example is beautifully consistent with this tribal school of design, featuring beautifully crafted geometric line work throughout, especially vertically along its stripes.
