A spirited antique Kurdish rug whose compact proportions, geometric drawing, and small irregularities preserve the personality of an individual village weaver. Kurdish rugs were produced across a diverse network of tribal and settled communities in western Persia. Their designs frequently combine geometric medallions, protective devices, stylized plants and small animal forms with a freedom that contrasts with the carefully prepared cartoons used by urban workshops. Its narrow, versatile dimensions make it suitable for an entrance, bedside area, passage or wall display, while its expressive character gives it particular appeal as a collectible tribal textile.
