Deep navy gives this large antique Persian Kashan rug its weight and elegance. The central red medallion rises out of a field filled with fine floral vines, palmettes, and scrolling ornament, while the red border frames the whole carpet with strong contrast. Ivory corner details lighten the composition just enough to keep the large format from feeling too dark. Among this group, it reads as one of the more stately and classically formal Persian room-size carpets.

Lot #466 is in very good condition. The pile is full and even with no visible wear or tear signs. The two ends are complete and secured. The sides are secured. There is no dryness in the foundation. This rug is clean and floor ready.
