Breathtaking Antique Persian Mohtashem Kashan Rug, Country of Origin: Persia, Circa date: 1880 – The fine antique Persian Mohtashem Kashan rugs are known as some of the finest in the world and some of the most masterful designs of the late 19th century. They are the designs of master carpet weaver Ustadan Zufilkhar Ed Din Mohtashem. The story goes that when the Safavid Dynasty fell in 1723, the Persian carpet industry entered a period of decline. Ustad Mohtashem married a weaver from Sultanabad, an area known for its fine carpets. She began producing rugs made from fine wool from Manchester, England. They were so beautiful that enthusiastic local merchants immediately commissioned more.
