This early 19th-century Uzbek Suzani textile from Uzbekistan presents a beautifully structured composition on a creamy ground, its central field organized in a quilt-like arrangement of repeating diamonds embellished with splayed red-petaled flowers, tight circular blossoms, and delicate smaller buds. Leafy, jagged borders in muted tones are offset by sparsely spaced orange flowers, while a wide outer border filled with clusters of red and blue flowers is traversed by a gracefully curved chain of fronds — altogether a refined and botanically expressive example of the Central Asian embroidery tradition.
