Beautiful Early 19th Century Suzani Uzbek Textile 49254, Country of Origin / Rug Type: Uzbekistan Textile, Circa Date: Early 19th Century – The lovely, creamy background of this antique 19th century textile , from Uzbekistan, perfectly suits the green and red pattern laid out. The central field of this Suzani textile is structured like the body of a quilt, a repeating set of diamonds arrayed neatly against each other. Splayed red-petaled flowers alternate with tight, circular blossoms, each square delicately embellished with smaller buds. The borders between are leafy and jagged, the muted colors further offset by sparsely spaced orange flowers. A thin red line separates the interior from a wide border, its light-toned area filled with clusters of red and blue flowers. Through these botanical decorations winds a chain of gracefully curved fronds.
