Artistic Black and White Vintage “Cause and Effect II” Barbara Rae Schaefer Tapestry, Country of Origin: United States Of America, Woven date: Late 20th Century –This elegant and abstract tapestry, by artist Barbara Rae Schaefer, allows the viewer to come to their own conclusions about the meanings and motivations behind the tapestry. Using only stark instances of black and white, all of the forms present in this work are enhanced further. The viewer is left to ponder which instances are the positive space and which are the negative. All of the lines of movement seem to be leading to each other, and their erratic paths present an unfolding story for viewers to enjoy. The presence of the tiny dots add a degree of entropy and chaos to the lines, further deepening the connections in this piece.
