This rare square size rug is a beautiful and decorative rug, an antique Turkish Oushak carpet that is sure to infuse warmth and serenity into any room’s interior design in which it’s displayed. Named after the city of Ushak, in Turkey, this one of a kind antique Turkish rug was woven with carefully chosen elephant print geometric designs and shapes. Likewise, the rounder floral design shapes, in the inner boarders of this beautiful Oriental rug, serve to create feelings of togetherness by drawing observers in with seamless connectivity.
Antique Turkish rugs from Ushak first grew in popularity during the early days of the Ottoman Empire. A trend that lasted lasted throughout the 1920’s. More recently, the antique Turkish Oushak rugs have regained their place as staples of the interior design industry. Since the 1980’s interior decorators began incorporating Turkish rugs more and more in their projects. As a result of their soaring popularity fewer and fewer of the better examples remain.
