Description
This exquisite antique carpet from Tabriz features a delicate floral medallion with palmette pendants, loosely spaced leaves and delicate floral motifs that create a light and airy composition. Flattering spandrels with arching outlines highlight the edges of the field while complementing the delicate central medallion and unadorned papyrus field. Powder blue guard bands filled with floral motifs and naturalistic borders decorated with majestic stags, seasonal trees and delicate foliage surround the elegant botanically themed field. This sophisticated antique rug created in Tabriz during the 1880’s features a refined shabby chic medallion with complementary spandrels and naturalistic borders rendered in a stately combination of terracotta red, sage green, ivory and powder blue.
