Description
Though many antique Persian Malayer rugs focus on smaller, finer details, this extraordinary antique Persian rug utilizes larger motifs and floral elements for a more lavish and intimate display of color and form. The largest border of this gallery size rug features an eggshell white background, complementing and standing out against the thinner encompassing borders. Within each frame are several winding stems, unified in a single path that courses through the confining space and complemented by the presence of several brightly colored perennials. Within the frames, at the center of the rug, is a beautiful series of leaves and stems, dancing against a pitch black background, almost as if carried by a mystical night’s breeze. The floral elements and motifs of this antique rug are arranged in a symmetrical system, their lush colors made all the more inviting by their sheer variety and the presence of the deep background.
