Here is a masterfully woven and exciting antique Oriental rug – in fact, an antique horse cover, woven in the Bakhtiari style in Persia around the turn of the twentieth century. Antique horse covers such as this appealing example are rare and considered to be extremely collectible. These unique compositions are highly valued for their unique cultural value, and for their important utility – that is, its function as a horse cover. This particular example is woven in the Bakhtiati style, which is by and large a traditionally tribal style, which empasizes abstract geometric compositions.
