Antique Kurdish Bidjar Rug, Country of Origin: Persia, Circa Date: late 19th Century – This distinguished antique Kurdish rug from Persia depicts a stellar allover arabesque rendered in a handsome combination of jewel tones. The deep, dark field is covered by a lacy veil of delicate floral sprays and kaleidoscopic botanical motifs that are linked by poly-chromatic vine-scrolls. The well-balanced arabesque incorporates splendid Shah Abbasi palmettes and elegant Hamsa-style motifs with re-curving appendages. Even the delicate rosettes feature contrasting outlines that highlight their supportive presence. Ruby red guard bands and rich sapphire blue main borders decorated with a lush network of botanical motifs create a regal frame that flatters the superbly decorated field. This elegant antique Bidjar rug showcases sumptuous colors and elaborate designs that rival Persia’s fantastic city carpets.
