Antique Caucasian Karabagh Rug, Origin: Caucasus, Circa: Turn of the 20th Century – Unique and quite beautiful at the same time, this antique carpet effectively communicates some of the more nuanced and notable stylistic trends that characterize the finest Caucasian carpets. First, a relatively narrow border of an almost teal blue frames the piece. A simple vine scroll and floral pattern infuses it with depth. Within the field of the carpet, one encounters a complex allover pattern of beautifully woven and unusual geometric floral designs. Each flower is impeccably shaped and detailed. A hypnotic pattern of whites, reds, and blues repeats throughout the carpet, giving the entire piece a feeling of movement. Impressively sharp for a piece of its age, this antique Karabagh carpet from the Caucasus is an exciting and beautifully composed example.

This rug is in good condition. The pile is full and even. There is a 3" x 3" area in the field that is rewoven and it is well-done. All four sides are complete and secured.
