A visually striking American quilt organized around the star, one of the most enduring patterns in American textile art. The complex assembly of small geometric sections demonstrates both mathematical planning and highly accomplished hand sewing. Star quilts were sometimes created as presentation pieces or demonstrations of a maker’s skill.
